LANSING, Mich. — It tastes great and now it looks great.

Today, Mayor Schor helped unveil the new look of a local Biggby on Lansing's west side.

With the help of the facade improvement program, this Biggby on W. Saginaw was able to get a little face-lift to replace old awnings and the front door with a handicap door.

New siding, trim, and paint were added to the outside of the building along with some added height to give the building a fresh look.

This program helps supply money to local businesses in need.

This Biggby saw improvements of $42 thousand and the grant helped pay for $20 thousand of that.

This Biggby is just one business of many who will receive the grant.

Mayor Schor said, "When you have a small business that needs assistance this is a program for us that we can use to provide assistance. It's not an incentive its not a tax credit. This is cash that they're matching to fix facade to make sure facade improvement is done."

He continued, " Many of them have great businesses on the inside but they want to make sure they're showing the public from the outside that they're vibrant that they're exciting that they're a great business to come to and when you look at the outside of the Biggby here you think well that looks like a place to get a good cup of coffee."

If you're interested in applying for the grant it is a first-come-first-serve basis through February 15, 2020.
