Grand Rapids shooting

Posted

Tense moments Wednesday outside a Grand Rapids hospital.

Police say a man shot himself in the head outside Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.

He left a package and a note indicated it was intended for police. Investigators say they didn't find anything threatening.

The hospital stayed open, but classes at a nearby community college were canceled.

Police say the man parked in the college's parking ramp and walked to the hospital. They searched his car, but didn't find anything suspicious.
