LANSING, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer today appointed Jason C. Bomia to the 10th District Court in Calhoun County.
“Jason is bringing 20 years of legal experience to the table and is very well prepared for this new role,” said Whitmer. “I know that Jason will perform his duties and responsibilities with honor and reverence for everyone.”
Jason C. Bomia, of Marshall, is an attorney with almost 20 years of experience with Schroder DeGraw, PLLC. His areas of practice include civil litigation, criminal defense, estate planning, bankruptcy, business,probate, and real estate law. Prior to completing law school, Mr. Bomia served as a law clerk for Ready, Sullivan, and Ready, LLP in Monroe. He currently serves as vice-chair of the Marshall City Planning Commission.
Mr. Bomia earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena Heights College and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toledo College of Law. He is an active member of the community and has served in executive roles for several organizations, including the Calhoun County Bar Association, Marshall Exchange Club, and the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce.
This appointment was made to fill a partial term, which expires at noon on January 1, 2021, after JudgeSamuel I. Durham, Jr. stepped down effective April 4, 2019. Mr. Bomia would be required to run for reelection in November 2020 in order to serve the remainder of Judge Durham’s unexpired term ending at twelve o’clock noon on January 1, 2023.
This appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
