LANSING, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer can be added to the list of state officials who are open to forgiving snow days that occurred while Michigan was under a state of emergency.
Last week, a new billwas introduced in the State Senate that would do just that.
Under state law, Michigan requires a minimum of 1098 hours of instruction over 180 days.
Rep. Michele Hoitenga (R), is drafting legislation that would allow districts to choose between the 180 days or the 1,098 classroom hours, including this year.
