Gov. Whitmer was in Washington, D.C. Wednesday advocating for Michigan.
The governor spoke on a panel at the Select USA Investment Summit along with the CAEO of CJ Bio North America, the CFO of B. Braun Medical and president of UCB.
Whitmer said that in addition to being a leader in the automotive industry, Michigan is also a leader in the biotechnology industry as well.
Whitmer said Michigan is diverse and welcoming in addition having the talent and research facilities, and that's what make it an important place for foreign companies, specifically any automotive industry representatives that will be looking at Michigan to invest in.
"Michigan is a phenomenal state," Whitmer said. "We have an unparalleled quality of life and there's wonderful things happening, but the strength of our economy requires that we have diversity of a portfolio that we're a place where people are coming from around the world to invest."
Select USA hosts an annual investment summit in Washington, D.C. The program is a government-wide initiative led by the U.S. Department of Commerce to encourage foreign direct investment in the U.S. economy.
