Gov. Rick Snyder has signed a memorandum with Ontario's Premier to promote the region's automotive industry.
The state and province are creating a working group to focus on autonomous vehicles, lightweight materials, alternative fuels and other best practices.
The state says trade between Ontario and Michigan was worth $74 billion in 2015.
Ontario and Michigan account for 26 percent of vehicle production in the region.
