Gov. Rick Snyder today announced Craig Ruff will rejoin his executive team as a special advisor on education, working on issues such as the 21st Century Education Commission, Detroit Public Schools restructuring, and talent development.
“I appreciate Craig’s willingness to serve as we reinvent our education system,” Snyder said. “We must look at how to make sure Michigan students are prepared for the realities of a global economy and are ready to fill the in-demand jobs of today and the future.”
Ruff, who formerly served as the governor’s education advisor before retiring in 2015, will return on an interim basis. Prior to working in the governor’s office, Ruff was a senior policy fellow at Public Sector Consultants. He also is a lecturer in public policy at the Ford School at the University of Michigan.
Ruff’s appointment takes effect Monday, May 16.
