LANSING, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer has appointed Lisa Webb Sharpe, LCC’s executive vice president for finance, administration, advancement and student affairs to the Michigan Board of Optometry.
Dr. Webb Sharpe is appointed to represent the general public with a term expiring June 30, 2023. She succeeds Sarah Kile, whose term expired June 30, 2019.
The Michigan Board of Optometry was enacted as part of the Public Health Code to license optometrists in this state. The board promotes and protects the public's health, safety, and welfare by ascertaining minimal entry-level competency for health practitioners and verifying continuing education during licensure. The board also has the obligation to take disciplinary action against licensees who have adversely affected the public's health, safety, or welfare.
In her role at LCC, Webb Sharpe provides leadership, management and vision to ensure the college has the appropriate operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow and ensure financial strength, operating efficiency, and student success.
LCC President Brent Knight said, “Lisa has done amazing work at LCC. She is an inspirational leader, creative and truly engaged and committed. I expect her to exhibit that same zeal in her appointment to the Michigan Board of Optometry.”
Webb Sharpe holds a doctorate in community college leadership from Ferris State University, an MBA from Wayne State University, and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.
