GMC becomes the first automaker to help prevent what's becoming a growing tragedy; children dying after being left in a hot car.
It's called the rear seat reminder system, which will debut as a standard feature on the 2017 GMC Acadia.
Chimes will sound when the ignition is turned off if a rear door was opened before the vehicle started.
The feature also includes a message on the dash display reminding the driver to check the rear seats.
