LANSING, Mich. — General Motors is suspending operations while Consumers Energy manages supply issues brought on by the extreme cold and equipment issues.
Lansing Delta Township Assembly, Lansing Grand River Assembly, Lansing Regional Stamping and Lansing Grand River Stamping operations are suspended as of the second shift Wednesday evening.
Third-shift and first-shift operations also are canceled.
Essential personnel will be notified individually by management. All salary personnel are to work from home.
GM will have further information for Thursday's second-shift operations.
This comes after a utility fire Wednesday morning in Macomb County.
Consumers Energy said a piece of equipment caught fire at the plant.
No one was injured.
Gas flow to the plant was shut off but Consumers Energy says no customers are without gas.
