GM layoffs at Delta Township plant won't be as deep as originally expected

Posted

General Motors will be laying off around half as many workers at the Delta Township plant as it originally announced in March.

GM spokeswoman Erin Davis tells us around 600 workers will be let go when the plant reopens in June. It will shut down for four weeks at the end of this week so crews can prepare for the launch of the new Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse.

GM announced in March it would lay off around 1,100 workers and end the third shift at the Delta Township plant because production of the new GMC Acadia is moving to Spring Hill, Tennessee. The number of layoffs was reduced because of transfers and retirements.
