LANSING, Mich. — Kids at the Beekman Center had the time of their lives when a Harlem Globetrotter visited the school on Thursday.

Orlando 'El Gato' Melendez says he enjoys these visits, as the team often goes to schools and hospitals.

"For me to visit schools and be a positive influence for kids, bring a little happiness and show some tricks. Kids love it and, to see them smiling really big, it’s the best thing in the world," he said.

Melendez has been a Globetrotter for seven years and has been to over 70 countries.

"It's been an amazing journey," he said.

After meeting with kids and showing them a few tricks, the Globetrotter taught News 10's Megan Hiler a few things as well.

The Globetrotters will be at the Breslin Center at 7 p.m. March 1.
