The shelter is promoting this initiative for the month of August and on Aug. 23 a blood drive is being held at the Community Room at the new facility in Mason all day.

During the promotion, free adoptions will be offered to blood donors, and American Red Cross workers.

A dog license must still be purchased if a dog is adopted.

Donors can either bring in a voucher card as provided from area donation sites, or show a confirmation email of an upcoming appointment to be eligible for the promotion.

Red Cross employees and associated volunteers are also eligible with Red Cross identification.
