Police arrested a man after a report of legal marijuana plants being stolen by following a trail of dirt and plant debris to an apartment.

The Jackson Police Department reports officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of N. Cooper Street for the report of the garage being broken into. Other items were stolen along with the legal marijuana plants.

Officers investigating the break-in were able to follow a trail of marijuana plant debris and dirt to an apartment in the 400 block of Blair Park Drive.

When officers arrived, nobody was answering the door to the residence so a search warrant was obtained, the department reports.

Upon executing the search warrant, the stolen plants and property were located.
