A neighborhood rattled after a shoot-out on their street.
"You feel safe enough and then something like this happens it shakes you a little bit," said Jeff Jones.
He was working at home on Pennsylvania Avenue when he heard what he thought were kids playing.
"It's a quiet morning all of the sudden I hear a couple of pops going off," Jones said. "Just out of curiosity I thought it was a couple of kids with fireworks."
Police were called to the 2400 block of South Pennsylvania after noon on Tuesday.
"We believe 2 to 3 subjects may have been here involved in the shoot out," said Captain Darin Southworth. "We don't know the number of firearms involved specifically."
Lansing police believe it was retaliation for the killing of 23-year-old Lansing native, Akive Edwards in Jackson last month.
Edwards was shot to death in a car that crashed into a house on South Milwaukee Street.
His funeral was being held at Solid Rock Baptist Church, just steps away from where the shoot-out happened Tuesday.
"We believe there's relationship to it. Plan and simple," Captain Southworth told Fox 47 News.
