Fugitive caught in South Lansing

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State Police have reported that the fugitive spotted at the America's Best hotel has been caught.

Around 9 a.m., local and state police, along with K9 units and a drone were looking for a wanted man near Cedar St. and the I-96 exit in South Lansing.

The fugitive is a 27-year-old black man from Detroit with a firearms related warrant.

The Michigan State Fugitive Team said they were looking for someone who is on the "wanted" list in Michigan and he was seen leaving the America's Best Inn on Wednesday morning.

They said the suspect has been known to have weapons and may be armed.

Police say that when the man saw cops that he ran.

Lt. Darren Green of the Michigan State Police has confirmed to FOX 47 that the suspect is in custody and that he was a fugitive out of Detroit.

The fugitive peacefully exited his hotel room, which was different than the one he originally was staying in, and went with police. He'll be taken back to Detroit for processing.
