The family of Chad Carr announced that the 5-year-old boy, who is the grandson of former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr, has passed away after a battle with brain cancer.
His mother posted on social media saying "#chadtough gained his angel wings today. Please pray for peace for our family."
Over the weekend, Michigan State and Ohio State players wore helmet decals that said #ChadTough to honor the boy when they play Saturday.
Chad was diagnosed last year with a rare, inoperable form of brain cancer.
