Former teacher pleads guilty to having sexual relationship with student

A former Leslie Public Schools teacher has admitted to having a sexual relationship with one of her students.

32-year-old Jamee Hiatt pleaded guilty to first and third-degree criminal sexual conduct Tuesday.

She admitted she began a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy during the 2013-2014 school year. She resigned from her teaching position at Woodworth Elementary in January 2016.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of falsely reporting a felony.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum penalty of life in prsion. Third-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Hiatt will be sentenced in Judge Thomas Wilson's court room on January 5th, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.
