A Jackson county jury has found former teacher Jonathan Hastings guilty of using a computer to commit a crime and distributing child sexually abusive activity.

Hastings, a former social studies teacher at Jackson High School, was charged with the two felonies in 2015 for sending inappropriate text messages to a 17-year-old female student.

Sentencing is set for December 8. He faces up to 10 years in prison for the charge of using a computer to commit a crime and up to seven years for the charge of distributing child sexually abusive activity.
