Former Lansing mayor Virg Bernero has a new gig. He's been named executive director of the Capital Area Manufacturing Council.

The CAMC is a business alliance and networking group made up of Lansing area manufacturing executives.

After finishing his last term as mayor, Bernero and his chief of staff, Randy Hannan, started the consulting firm "Bernero Hannan". The CAMC says it has retained the firm to "provide association management services."

“I am very pleased to bring Virg and Randy on board,” said Andy Storm, president and CEO of Eckhart, Inc. and chairperson of the CAMC Board of Directors. “Virg’s passion for manufacturing and his strong advocacy for the industry as mayor of Lansing make him and his team a perfect fit with our organization’s mission and goals.”

Bernero served as Lansing Mayor for 12 years. He decided not to run for a fourth term last year.
