Former Lansing City Council member arraigned on embezzlement charge

Posted

Former Lansing city councilman and mayoral candidate Harold Leeman was charged with embezzlement Wednesday morning.

Leeman was arraigned on one count of "Embezzlement - Agent of Trustee - $1,000-$19,999."

That's a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

He is out on bond for now.

Ingham County prosecutors say Leeman stole the money from the City of Lansing parks between February and July of 2016.

Leeman has a Probable Cause Conference scheduled for March 10 and a Preliminary Hearing on March 17.

We are working to get more details on the investigation.
