LANSING, Mich. — New information has come in on a former Grand Ledge band director facing child porn charges in Florida.

Christopher Blackmer, 47, now lives in Orange County, Florida.

He has recently been charged with an additional 13 felonies - now it's 6 in the third degree, 5 in the second degree, and 3 first degree for child pornography.

Michigan State police said they're ready to investigate if Florida authorities find evidence Christopher Blackmer, 47, might have abused kids in Michigan.

State police told us when the news broke they called and offered to help if Michigan based evidence was found.

If that turns out to be the case, MSP told Florida police they would work to get a search warrant for Blackmer's phone, laptop and any other evidence.

Blackmer was arrested in an Orlando suburb Friday, April 5, on charges of child porn.

This stems from a tip police received of inappropriate messages and images between Blackmer and an underage student, while he was Winter Park High School's band director.

Police said they found a 39-minute video of Blackmer and an underage male student engaging in sexual acts on his phone.

The video was a combination of five different videos taken on five different dates.

The Grand Ledge School District doesn't want to speak on camera, but told us this comes as a surprise.

Administrators went through Blackmer's personnel file and found no accusation or indication that he abused students at Grand Ledge.

He worked at Grand Ledge from 2008 to 2013 and left when he got the job in Florida.

He was the Grand Ledge's band director at the high school and at Willow Ridge Elementary School.

Grand Ledge schools said it's using this situation as a reminder for staff of what to do if a student discloses sexual abuse.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office told us no one ever filed a complaint about Blackmer.

Parents and former students have also told us they never saw anything to lead them to believe he would ever commit sexual abuse.

He'll be in a Florida courtroom on Tuesday to hear the charges.

Blackmer now faces up to life in prison if convicted.
