Former Detroit Mayor asks Trump to commute his sentence

DETROIT (WILX) - The former mayor of Detroit has asked President Trump to commute his sentence.

Kwame Kilpatrick's released a statement on his Facebook page saying that he is ready to go home.

He also said quote " I am hoping...Confidently expecting...That I will have the opportunity to boldly move into the next season of my life; outside these prison walls."

Kilpatrick made this request when Barack Obama was President.....but the request was not granted.

The former mayor is serving a 28-year sentence for two-dozen felonies...including extortion and wire fraud.
