FLINT, Mich. — A group of Flint activists met this morning at the City of Flint's water plant to mark the fifth anniversary of the city's water crisis.
The crisis started when Flint's water system was found to have lead contamination.
Residents were forced to use bottled water and later tap filters were recommended.
However, some residents still do not trust the city's water supply.
The protesters stressed that the crisis is ongoing and that it still is an everyday reality for residents.
They also made it clear during a press conference that they have yet to see "accountability or justice."
The protesters are coming to travel to the State Capitol in Lansing to continue their day of protest.
Gov. Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist also plan to mark Flint's fifth anniversary, but they will do it with "Day of Service."
The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and several state cabinet directors will join volunteers and community members for a day of service at Hasselbring Park.
That event is expected to begin at 2:00 PM.
