A parade is planned to honor Flint, Michigan, native JaVale McGee, who helped the Golden State Warriors win the 2017 NBA Championship.

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver's office says that the parade takes place Wednesday at the International Academy of Flint and will proceed to City Hall for a recognition program.

McGee was born in Flint. His mother, Pamela McGee, starred in basketball at Flint Northern High School and later the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

The 7-foot Javale McGee was a reliable option off the Warriors' bench. He averaged 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds playing 9.6 minutes in 77 games with 10 starts while shooting a career-best 65.2 percent.

The Warriors re-signed McGee this summer to a one-year deal.
