The city of Flint has been trying to fight a lead problem, even before the water crisis.
A new study, involving Michigan State University public health researcher Rick Sadler, shows Flint residents have also been affected by lead found in the city's soil.
The study shows elevated lead-levels were found in Flint's children before the city switched to a new water supply.
The research points blame at lead contaminated dirt especially in older parts of the city.
The spike in lead-levels occurred during drier months of the year.
