LANSING, Mich. — The sale of flavored e-cigarette products is officially illegal in Michigan, leaving the future of some local businesses in limbo.

Cravin Vapes in Jackson is now shut down.

Management told Fox 47 it didn't make financial sense to stay open.

The store's former manager Chase Elrod says the company had to shut down their Jackson location and two other shops in Charlotte and St. Johns are also on the line.

“The reason that we closed is due to the flavored vape juice ban,” Elrod said.

“We weren't going to make enough revenue for the store. We had probably about $13,000 to $15,000 worth of flavored juice. The time businesses had was two weeks to get rid of all of it.”

Michigan is the first state in the country to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarette products.

Selling it is a misdemeanor punishable by six months in jail and $200 dollar fine.
