Flags on all state buildings will fly at half-staff today to honor the state's first blind legislator.

Former representative Robert Mahoney died on March 30.

He served in the state house from 1954 to 1972.

After leaving the legislature Mahoney was appointed to Wayne State County Commissioner and later lobbied for the Michigan Hospital Association.
