It's not usually a good sign when two departments worth of firefighters are deployed to a school, but this isn't a usual situation.

The Jackson school district is getting ready to demolish an elementary school that's no longer in use.
That presents firefighters in the area with a unique opportunity to improve their life-saving skills.
Students moved from Cascade Elementary to Frost earlier this year.
The old building is getting a little more use before it's torn down.
Wednesday, crews from Jackson and Summit Township used it for search and rescue training.
"I think it's a great thing for our community. It'll certainly make our response teams stronger and better. So if we can help out with doing that, it's a good thing for us, too," said Jeff Beal, superintendent of Jackson Public Schools.
The building the students moved to is just a few feet away from Cascade Elementary.
The city says there shouldn't be any disruptions to them or to the neighborhood.
