A fire broke out at a home in Holt early morning this morning, and the flames and heat were so intense, the roof collapsed into the basement.
Multiple crews rushed to the house in the 4000 block of Doncaster Avenue off of Aurelius Road to fight the fire around 3:40 a.m. The flames were massive.
Firefighters tell us the homeowner and her pet dog were not home when the flames broke out. They were able to contact her by phone.
The fire was so bad at one point, firefighters could not even get inside the house. The flames even took the siding off the next door neighbor's home and damaged the other neighbor's siding.
Crews were able to quickly get the fire under control, but the roof collapsed all the way into the basement.
This house is a total loss," says Delhi Township Fire Chief Brian Ball. "No one was inside. We talked to the homeowner. She is out, and her pet dog as well.
No word on the cause of the fire. Chief Ball says the investigation is ongoing and that more information should be released tomorrow.
