Fire proves to be fatal in Calhoun County

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A fire is being investigated in Pennfield Township.

It happened at 18 Montford Street on July 17 around 6:53 a.m

Upon arrival, emergency crews found smoke coming from the upper level of the home.

Firefighters entered the house and found a 58-year-old man on the floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Calhoun County detectives will be working with the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal to determine the cause of the fire.
