Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire that destroyed a business in Jackson County.

Firefighters got the call just after 11:30 p.m. for reports of a fire at the Love's Sawmill business on Railroad Street in the Village of Springport.

FOX 47 viewer Walter Betz lives a few houses down from the business and took video of the fire from his cellphone. The video shows the business fully engulfed in flames.

The business is located about a half-mile east of Springport High School.

Betz says his daughter heard an explosion and ran downstairs from their house to tell him. Betz then went outside where he saw the sky was bright due to the flames shooting from the building.

Fire officials on the scene tell FOX 47 that no one was hurt and no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Betz says he watched the building burn to the ground and he's just glad it wasn't worse.

"I was just glad no one got hurt. It's a family owned business, the father and his family members had gone home for the day, I have no idea how it started but it was scary," says Betz.

At least five local area fire departments were called to the scene to put out the flames.
