Fire damages apartment building in Lansing

The Red Cross is helping people who were forced to move because of a fire at an apartment building in Lansing Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the 500 block of West Madison Street around 2:30PM.

They told us the fire started in a first-floor apartment before spreading to the second floor.

There is smoke damage throughout the nine-unit building.

One person was taken to a hospital after he was hurt while jumping out of a window.

Firefighters had to rescue 3 people from inside the building.

Investigators haven't figured out what caused the fire yet.
