A Lansing family is waking up without their two family pets this morning, after a basement fire forced them out of their home and claimed the lives of their two animals.
It happened on Ronald Street near Jolly and Waverly around five thirty yesterday. The people who lived there got out safely, and the Red Cross helped the family find a place to stay for the night.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
