Ferris Park shooting suspect arraigned

LANSING, Mich. — A suspect for the shooting of a 16-year-old was arraigned on Friday by 54-A District Court Magistrate Millmore.

Denzel Duane Gibbons, 19 from Lansing, was detained earlier this week as a person of interest for the shooting that took place on August 5 on Pine Street in Lansing.

He was charged with:
Count 1: Assault with intent to Murder
Count 2: Weapons – Dangerous Weapons – Carrying with Unlawful Intent
Count 3: Weapons – Carrying Concealed
Count 4: Assault with a Dangerous Weapon – Felonious Assault
Count 5: Weapons – Felony Firearms
Count 6: Weapons – Felony Firearms
Count 7: Weapons – Felony Firearms

He was also given a $100,00 cash/surety bond.

Gibbons is next scheduled in 54-A District court in front of Judge Buchanan on the following dates:
Probable Cause Conference: 8/23/19 @ 8:30 a.m.
Preliminary Exam: 8/30/19 @ 8:30 a.m

Police are not saying that Gibbons shot Taijion Gant, who was killed at the scene on Monday.

The investigation is still ongoing for that homicide as additional facts are being gathered.
