LANSING, Mich. — A motion was denied on Wednesday to dismiss charges against Kathy Klages of lying to police during the Nassar scandal, which is a felony.
Klages is the former MSU Gymnastics Coach, who was on staff when Larry Nassar was a doctor at the university.
Multiple girls say that they complained to Klages about Nassar's behavior but she did nothing about it.
At her preliminary examination in September 2018 Klages claimed she knew nothing about the accusations against Larry Nassar until the story went public in August of 2016.
However, two survivors say they told Klages long before that time.
Klages' lawyer said the fact that her client doesn't remember being told doesn't mean she is lying.
Her lawyer also asked the judge to prohibit the release of certain personal information, saying that she has received threats.
The former head gymnastics coach resigned in 2017 after she was suspended for defending Nassar over the years.
Klages was charged with lying to investigators.
If convicted, she could face up to four years in prison.
She has denied allegations that former gymnast Larissa Boyce told her that Nassar had abused her in 1997, when Boyce was 16.
