A federal judge has cleared the way for the potential of thousands of people to be paid for work while they were cosmetology students at Douglas J Institute.
In a ruling, the judge decided students who did things like clean floors, restock products, and wash towels were doing things not directly related to their education.
Students say they could be sent home if they did not do the tasks.
Attorneys for the school argue it was part of the education. Attorneys for the students say the next step will be class-action certification.
