LANSING, Mich. — The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants to make dialing the National Suicide Prevention Hotline number as easy as dialing 9-1-1.
The FCC announced Thursday it would like to designate 9-8-8 as the hotline's new number.
The agency said it would be easier for people to remember--compared to the current 10-digit number, which is 800-273-8255.
The FCC said over 2 million people called the hotline last year.
