LANSING, Mich. — An accident that happened on Friday afternoon took the life of one driver near the Beck's Trailer Super Store and Service Center in St. Johns.
Around 2:30 p.m. a woman was driving a Cadillac, heading southbound on U.S. 127, when she couldn't stop in time due to a sudden traffic slowdown.
She swerved to avoid a crash, went off the road, and rolled her vehicle before landing on the roof of the car in a ditch, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's office.
They said that she was in her 70s and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male passenger in the car, also in his 70s, was taken to the hospital.
Michigan State Police was also on the scene.
Clinton County Sheriff's Office told NEWS 10 they suspect they were not wearing seat belts.
