Family Video is not saying good-bye to Lansing, but it is downsizing.
The Family Video on Waverly Road is closing.
However, the Chicago-based company say it is not due to sales.
The company reports that its bottom line has been doing well even in this era of new technology, specifically streaming ,which has impacted Family Video's business competitors.
The company believes in owning retail location properties.
With this business practice they have the ability to lease a location to a tenant.
That tenant has the potential of bringing in additional revenue to Family Video.
This is the plan for the company's location at at 105 N. Waverly Rd.
The company says their new tenant plans to use the entire space.
Its last day of operation is currently being negotiated with the new tenant, but the company expects the store to shutter its doors no later than August.
The Waverly location opened in 1998, but the company still has three other locations in Lansing.
