LANSING, Mich. — A family is pleading for answers after a father was shot and killed Friday morning.

A mother of a shooting victim in Old Town has confirmed the death of her son, Reginald Craig. The shooting happened outside of the victim's, 43-year-old Reginald Craig's apartment in Lansing's Old Town.

A friend of Craig's found him lying in his apartment where he was bleeding from gunshot wounds.

"He did love his daughter and his daughter loves him very much," The aunt to Craig's 10-year-old daughter said.

The steps where a friend said Craig was sitting shortly before he was shot is now occupied with flowers and stuffed animals that were left behind by Craig's daughter's mother.

"I'm just tired of all these young people killing each other when it makes no sense," the aunt of Craig's daughter said. "Problems can be solved in other ways."

Lansing police say Craig was shot outside his apartment in Old Town shortly before 2 a.m.

A friend told FOX 47 News that the 43-year-old was shot at least once in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital where he died.

"I can tell you that the victim, we believe was the targeted intended person," Robert Merritt, a Lansing police spokesperson said.

Craig's mother said he was a quiet person and never caused any problems. Craig's daughter's aunt said she's going to make sure the girl's mother is okay.

"She's been through a lot in her life and she's taken it rough but she's going to be standing cause I'm going to make sure," the aunt of Craig's daughter said.

The aunt of Craig's daughter has this message for the shooter.

"You should turn yourself in and I'll be praying for you," the aunt said.

Police have not made an arrest yet, but they are following up on leads and looking at video in the area.
