While many people in Mid-Michigan will be enjoying Halloween festivities Wednesday, there are ways the kids can get their candy fix Tuesday night.

The Great Pumpkin Walk in East Lansing is happening Tuesday night.

This event is a big hit with the kids with more than 1,000 trick-or-treaters hitting the streets of Downtown East Lansing for the event.

Children can collect candy from the more than 50 participating businesses downtown. The event is hosted by the City of East Lansing and Downtown Management Board in partnership with participating downtown businesses.

The fun starts at 5 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. Parking is free from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Also happening in East Lansing Tuesday, the Michigan State University Greek community is holding its Halloween street carnival event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m on M.A.C. Avenue between Burcham Drive and Linden Street.

This festive family event will consist of a variety of activities, including face painting, Halloween games, trick-or-treating at the various Greek houses, costume contests, live music, inflatable moonwalks, a reading circle, arts and crafts and much more. A DJ will also be in attendance playing some fun Halloween tunes, and local businesses will be handing out their own trick-or-treat goodies.

The event is free and open to the public.
