Mid-Michigan got a special visit today from one of the world's most experienced underwater explorers, James Delgado.

Delgado spoke to a crowd at the Eagle Eye Country Club, as part of a fundraiser for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra.

Delgado has investigated more than 100 shipwrecks around the world, including the Titanic and the USS Arizona.

The underwater archaeologist says he's also explored wrecks in each of the great lakes.

"It's always good to be back in Michigan," he said. "The Alpena-based Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary is a favorite place with all those wrecks accessible to the public, and a reminder that lake history is just as important as ocean history."

Delgado is also the author or editor of 32 books, most recently "Misadventures of a Civil War Submarine: Iron, Gunpowder, and Pearls."
