Extreme levels of contamination at local recycling center

Posted

Granger is asking people to follow it's recycling guidelines after extreme levels of contamination were found at it's drop off center in Jackson.

The company says the contamination is the result of the wrong materials being dropped off, or improper preparation. Those materials include plastic bags and bulky, rigid plastics, which cannot be processed at the Jackson facility at 2600 Lansing Rd.

Granger says part of the problem is new import changes made by China, which means the U.S can no longer ship out a variety of recyclables.
