Carl Spina from the Saline Middle School District joins us as this week's Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education Award winner.

"In high school I was certain that I did not want to be a teacher. It just was not something I was interested in and then I had some opportunities to work with young people while still I was in high school. It was rewarding right away from my first few days in the classroom that this was something that I wanted to do with my life. It wasn't the money, it wasn't the prestige of the career, it was the opportunity to work with people to make a difference."
Carl receives a $1500 check from the Michigan Lottery and her class at East Jordan Middle High School receives a $500 grant.
