Pressuring teens to diet could have a negative impact on their health and self-esteem as adults. That's according to a new study from the University of Minnesota.

The study showed young adults whose parents encouraged them to diet in their teens were more likely to be overweight, engage in unhealthy weight control habits and have poor body satisfaction.

They also tended to pass on these messages to their own children, pressuring them diet on focus on their weight.
