LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Michigan.
The Emergency Operations Center is prepared.
The state of emergency puts emergency management in a state of readiness to respond to any incident immediately.
They coordinate the state's response to any emergency or disaster.
If a jurisdiction needs more snow plows, emergency management will get them what they need.
They work with the entire state and have state district coordinators assigned to every district in the state.
"They work with the local emergency managers and every time there is an incident, they get that information here and we give that local jurisdiction any resource that they need," said Capt. Emmit McGowan of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
He also says that if you get into a crash on the road, in most instances, you should stay in the car to prevent serious injury.
