Police found an elderly couple dead inside the garage of their home in Jackson County Friday.

The discovery was made at the 1600 block of Munith Road in Leoni Township.

Officers were called to the home when a relative called police after not being able to get into contact with the couple who had no power.

The couple is being identified as 75-year-old Lonnie Sibbett and 70-year-old Leona Sibbett.

A generator was found inside the enclosed garage leading police to believe the couple died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Extremely high levels of carbon monoxide were found inside the garage and home.

Detectives are waiting for autopsy results to confirm the cause of the death, nothing appeared to be suspicious.

Police urge to never run a generator inside an attached garage, especially with doors shut.
