Eaton county reaches another big milestone in its public safety radio project. Today the county broke ground for the construction of three new radio towers for emergency dispatch. A 300-foot tower will go here in Sunfield Township. Two others, around 200-feet high, will be built in Delta and Walton townships. The towers are paid for by a county millage passed last November.
Michael Armitage, The Director of Eaton County Central Dispatch, says "The system is going to bring much more reliable communications, It's going to bring better coverage for first responders and all those equate to better public safety and saving time in an emergency, which is vital."
The existing Towers are in Charlotte, Nashville, and Windsor and Hamlin Townships will also get equipment upgrades.
