East Lansing City Council members are expected to adopt its 2019 budget at a scheduled meeting Tuesday.
The city needs to cut spending by more than $3 million dollars a year as part of a plan to deal with the city's long-term $190 million dollar retirement deficit.
Earlier this month, East Lansing city council members voted to place an income tax proposal on the August ballot.
The proposal would tax residents at one-percent and non-residents who work in the city a half-percent.
Voters rejected another version of the tax last fall.
The East Lansing City Council will meet Tuesday night at the East Lansing 54B District Court building on Linden Street at 7 p.m.
